How to Improve your Blog’s Popularity

By R.O.B On May 23, 2011 Under Blogging, Traffic

If your blog has been around for a while it can often become quite difficult to muster the motivation needed to produce intriguing content. It seems to be a habit for bloggers to start off with a bang but, over time, lose their drive because they quickly realize how time consuming a blog can actually be.

Very few individuals lead a lifestyle which permits them to do whatever they want, whenever they want, with absolutely no unexpected interruptions. It is for this reason that most people become sidetracked and their blog quickly falls to the back burner. The biggest challenge when trying to make your blog an authority in your niche is to never let your spirit be broken. Maintain your drive and motivation and success is virtually guaranteed. So, what can you do to really establish a great reputation for your blog?

Content is king! Dedicating a decent portion of your time to publishing high-quality posts is absolutely critical. The internet is full of venues where readers can find information, so your goal should be to set your blog apart from the rest by keeping what you publish relevant to the interests of your readers and up-to-date with recent market developments. As soon as your visitors find that new content is becoming rare they are left with dissatisfaction and an increased level of disinterest, only to be rectified by them moving onward in their pursuit of information. If you find that writing your own content is just not going to happen you may wish to search the internet for service providers who specialize in content creation and article writing. (Remember that content is not limited only to articles and text – it can also be in the form of videos, graphics, etc.)

Search Engine Optimization

If you have brilliant content on a poorly optimized site you’ll find yourself going nowhere fast. The world of successful internet marketing is a beautifully choreographed dance between quality content and high-powered search engine optimization strategies. After you’ve produced some great content it’s time to move on to your SEO efforts by building reputable backlinks to your blog and its posts. Try contributing to forums in your niche and leaving a link back to your blog in your signature. You may wish to try contributing guest posts to, or commenting on, similar blogs as well.

Building your Image

Make contact with your readers! Develop a relationship with them. You can do this quite easily by encouraging visitors to leave comments on your posts, providing them with several ways to contact you, starting a Facebook page, maintaining a Twitter account, and more. Readers love to be able to interact and get involved. Just remember to respond to their inquiries!

Do your research by reviewing your blog’s analytics to see how people are finding your site. Is your new advertising campaign effective? How is your word-of-mouth exposure? Maybe the last few visitors came because of your post on your blog’s Facebook page. The more data you sift through, the more options you’re giving yourself because you’re able to see exactly what works and what doesn’t. Remember: Traffic is incredibly important to improving your blog’s popularity and authority, in addition to your reputation.
